Wrapping up in style this autumn...

After what seems like the warmest September in history, the Autumn weather has finally arrived. And so, it's time for the TRENCH. The stylish classic that we all reach for when the weather is in between seasons.

The trench coat was originally designed for the British and French army during WW1- it was literally worn in the trenches, hence where the name comes from. But even before this, coats known as Macs, invented by Charles Macintosh, were being worn made from rubberised cotton to make them waterproof. It was designers Thomas Burberry and John Emary who developed this design to create their own versions of the first trench coat and since then it's become a wardrobe staple for both men and women.

I'm a HUGE fan of the trench coat for its understated stylishness. Throw it on over anything - fancy LBD or jeans and Tee - and it makes everything come together effortlessly, not to mention it's SUPER practical, keeping you dry and east to layer up underneath.

So I've trawled the shops, scoured the internet to find you what I consider to be some of the best current trench coat designs that are (of course) sustainably designed and created....
